The Ideals Of An Outdoor Showsite

I'm a great believer that if you are going to display conservatories, they need to be outside. Having them outside means the customers gets the true feel as to what to expect from their new conservatory as they are going to be exposed to the weather.

Companies can boast dozens of conservatories on display, but if they are inside, surrounded by artificial light and air conditioning, I believe customers aren't getting the true showsite experience. They are in their own climate, protected, when the real thing is going to be subjected to all sorts of extremes of weather.

For example, how do you demonstrate the benefits of the heatguard roof inside?! We have a conservatory with a heatguard roof, next to one without, and that allows us to show properly the difference between roofs, and the obvious benefits. We don't have the biggest showroom, but because it's outdoors, customers often tell us that they can get the true picture by coming to our outdoor showsite as opposed to other indoor ones.

It's not always that easy to have an outside showroom. The problem is sometimes vandalism at night therefore the only way to protect your product within certain geogrpahical locations is an indoor display area

Also an advantage of an indoor showroom is that people will come and see the product whatever the weather and as this year shows it's been pretty grim so far...I think you will find that both indoor and outdoor displays have different benefits and is your blog post biased towards your own companies setup? Yes, it is...

We suffer very little from vandalism. In fact the only time we did have breakages was when we got rid of a fitter who didn't take kindly to being sacked. We have CCTV, we're covered pretty well round the back of our building and have a big enough iron gate at the front to put people off.

The post is biased as this is my point of view, based on the setup where I work, so I make no apologies for that. The weather point I can understand, but we still get customers through the door interested in conservatories, even though it might be raining on that particular day.

I couldn't disagree more.

We've got dealers with both indoor and outdoor showrooms, and without question those with indoor showrooms are the ones doing the business.

And looking at companies we don't supply, I see very few examples of companies with outdoor showrooms (especially those on garden centres) doing any exciting numbers.

But, happy that your company thinks this way ;-)

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. We are still do plenty of business with an outdoor showsite, and customers tell us that they like the advantages of seeing conservatories outdoors.
