Veka/WHS Halo: Merger Or Veka Buyout?

Ok, so it appears that I may have been a bit slow on the uptake of this news, but I learned today that Veka has bought, or is about to buy WHS Halo. Then later on in another tweet it was described as a merger. So whats the story here?

It's obvious that there are people out there who know more than me, so here is your opportunity to spill the beans if you so wish! Anonymously of course! Or not!

The stuff that people will really want to know is how close this deal actually is. How much is the deal worth? How drastic will product change be? Will there be job losses? If anybody knows what the answers to these questions are, you know where the comment box is!

UPDATE: information has come to me stating that there may be an announcement on Friday regarding the sale, and that there is another unknown buyer in the race for WHS Halo. If this unknown buyers does purchase Halo, they plan to keep everything the way it as at Halo, with the only change being a warehouse move to Coventry. If Veka were to buy Halo, it's said that they want to move all operations to Burnley. The Halo brand is likely to stay. There are too many big customers to lose if the brand was sent to the scrap heap.

Any more information that comes my way I'll post it as soon as I have it.

UPDATE 2: an anonymous commenter has just left a note below saying that Synseal have bought Spectus. This is unverified, but he/she has said that the information is reliable, but cannot say any more right now. Obviously if more comes to light, I'll let it be known.

I've not heard any whispers about Eurocell or Synseal myself. But I'll keep and ear to the ground and report back if I hear who the other buyer may be.

Why would Veka want whs halo?? Veka`s a good profile and whs is the worst modern day profile out there IMO. Fitter friendly i don`t think so !!!!!!Takes twice the time of any other profile (i`ve used) to fit...

I think Veka want Halo for the Brand. Veka's profile is dated (looks like they stretched the old 58mm System) Halo's profile is better than most thermally, and looks good when installed, also the composite doors are way ahead of every one elses (supposed to be the only one currently to pass the preposed Door Energy Ratings). also it should put Vekas extrusion capacity to near 100%.

I would'nt put money on the Synseal rumour, but I have 50 quid on the Halo one!!!

Even with the accquisition of spectus, synseal are not at 100% therefore with the added WHS Halo tonnage it would put them at over 100% capacity, making them the strongest brand in the UK, they have been very vocal in the press of their willingness to grow plus they have the funds to support it, which i don't think Veka do.

To the anonymous commenter who left a comment regarding the sale of Spectus to Synseal, are you able to shed any more light on this without getting yourself knee deep in crap?

Having spoken to a few of my Industry insiders, the Synseal v Spectus seems to be a smoke screen for the Veka v Halo deal that should be anounced on Friday.......

it's definitely on the cards the only question is when. word is the two sides can't agree on terms but that may of changed as there was another meeting late yesterday.
as for an announcement on Friday its not looking likely as half of the group are on shutdown but stranger things have happened so you never know either way the cards are being held very closely to their chests

Tomorrow will either be an anti-climax, or exciting and what we were expecting. If there is going to be an announcement, I would assume it will be in the morning. So we will see very soon!

Bit of an update for you.a little birdy tells me the deal is signed and sealed now but there will be no announcement today as they want to give it to the whole group at once. The halo brand will remain and it will simply be a change of owners from bowater to veka (for now) and the bowater companies will trade either under veka or halo. No decisions have been made as of yet as far closures or moving of sites.

Employee - the reason why your last comment wasn't published was that the information you were giving was very accurate and the ramifications to those who work there could be significant. I have it on good knowledge that there are plenty of very worried people.

I've had my Twitter account attacked today, I think that those involved in the deal were trying to tell me something.

This sort of information you provided me with should be given to those who work for both companies by their bosses, and not here. I don't think it's my place to announce such material.

I think we all know what road this is going down, and we all know it'll probably be confirmed very very soon.

We know we are right, I just have to be a bit more sensitive now with what is said, and it has to be done at the right time. It'll be open season when the things announced, then we can say what we want.

Plus, I don't want to be attacked online again lol!

Hello all. I've heard very little about it today. Perhaps both companies have tightened things up?

Many were under the impression that something would have been said by now.

To the anonymous commenter: thank you for sending me those comments, they put a lot of meat on the bone. However, due to the specific nature of the material, I won't publish it until the official information is out in the open. There is a delay in the announcement as we all know, for what reason I'm not aware of as of yet. But as soon as it becomes possible for me to publish your comments without landing myself or anybody in hot water, I will do so.

To anon - I didn't want to publish the comment stating alleged figures and how much Halo was losing in case the info MIGHT have been wrong. I've been in trouble last week for posting information which turned out to be untrue. I just want to information verified before I publish it now, nothing wrong with that.
